The Strategy Behind Food Processors

In just under 2 months, I assembled the attached strategic portfolio plan for a industry leader in housewares for a hypothetical class project. In the report, I incorporated multiple diagramming techniques and frameworks to communicate trends and document the business as it exists now in order to my support strategic recommendations.

My client has been the industry leader in med- to high-capacity consumer food processors in high price ranges. More consumers are cooking at home thanks to economic and cultural shifts, but counter space is shrinking because of a saturated small kitchen products market and limited appliance budgets.

In a highly competitive environment, my client’s portfolio was duplicative and confusing and only differentiated from their competitors by historical market leadership. I recommend that the client extend their current products into new social experiences or innovate the market category with new offerings that appeal to new customers.
